Is Voice Biometrics In the Cards?

I recently read an article about the possibility of voice biometrics becoming widely used.  These systems are very attractive to banks and financial institutions that must be able to correctly identify a caller before releasing information or allowing an automated transaction to occur.   The system relies on software that can identify a caller by analyzing the voice and speech patterns.  This technology is still being fined tuned to work well with mobile and cell phones since the signals that transmit the voice are not always reliable.  There are some institutions that use the software but many of their customers are frustrated when the system denies them access.  This technology could be widely used in the near future.
