Pigs as Pets?

Have you ever considered raising a pig? They’re clean, highly trainable, and extremely intelligent pets. As a matter of fact, based on some intelligence tests completed in the 1990′s, pigs rate higher in intelligence than dogs! Pigs can learn the meaning of simple words and phrases, they can focus with more intensity than chimpanzees, they can be taught to jump over, sit by, or retrieve, and they can excel at video games that would be hard for a young child, and sometimes better than the primates! Pigs have a great sense of direction and can often find their way home if lost, they can learn from watching one another. Pigs outsmart each other and eventually learn from their mistakes to prevent being outsmarted again later. In the overall spectrum of intelligent animals, pigs fall into the same categories as apes & chimps, whales & dolphins, parrots, dogs, cats, squirrels, and octopus. Pigs’ intelligence has even been compared to that of a three year old child. These are some great reasons to think about raising a pig.
