Personalized children’s books in retail stores

Will customers buy personalized children’s books in retail stores?  Obvoiusly if it is photo personalized it would need to be ordered online or a mail in order.  I believe it could work if they are buying it as a gift and they would have a package to wrap and give to a friend or family member.  It’s not as exciting as having the final product.  But still similar to an ant farm where you have to mail an order form in to receive the ants.  The anticipation of receiving your product through the mail can be equally fun.  The more personalization becomes standard the more options consumers will have for buying.
