Lights, Camera…North Carolina!
North Carolina features a booming film scene, with many movies and TV shows being filmed in Wilmington, including the teen hit "One Tree Hill."
In the Triangle area of Raleigh, Durham and Chapel Hill, there’s plenty of movie-going opportunities for residents, ranging from blockbusters to independent cinema to the classics. You might want to head over to one of the multi-screen cineplexes at North Hills or Brier Creek, where there’s always a new movie starting. Or, if you missed a recent film in theaters, you can always go to one or our second-run theaters, such as the Blue Ridge 14.
If you love independent cinema, the Triangle has a number of great theaters, such as the Colony and the Rialto, which features one of the biggest screens in the Triangle. Or, for a really big screen, check out our IMAX theater downtown, which has both original documentaries and special extra-large editions of current hits.
If something more eclectic is your taste, head to the Galaxy Cinema in Cary, which has six screens of independent films, including many imports from India’s "Bollywood" film industry. Or, if you prefer something older, try the Carolina Theatre in Durham, which regularly features festivals combining older movies with short films from filmmakers all over the country, along with the renowned Full Frame Documentary Film Festival.
Take a look at the Raleigh real estate market…no matter where you live, you’re likely to be just a few miles from a great movie. Get your ticket, get some popcorn…and get ready for a great evening of entertainment.
