Benefit From My Experience When it Comes to Futon Covers

If you have a futon and have never bought a cover, let me give you some advice. I’ve owned at least one futon for the past twenty years, and now have two. You’ll save yourself a lot of grunting and sweating if you get a cover with a zippered opening that goes around three sides of the cover and has two zipper pulls, as opposed to the cheapos that only have a zipper on two sides Why? Well, just try and visualize getting one of thos futon covers that only has a zipper on two sides around your current futon mattress. I guess if your futon’s cheap enough, it might be easier because it’ll probably be lighter than a good quality mattress. Regardless, it’s kind of like putting a pillowcase on a giant pillow.

Now, if you can only get a cover that has a three sided zipper with only one pull, it’s better but not optimal. You’ll still have to do some shifting, turning and relocating of the mattress as you pull the cover on, but it’s nowhere near as bad as the two sided zipper covers.

With a three-sided zipper and two zipper pulls, you just stand the futon on edge, drape the cover over, close each side down as far as you can, then lay the mattress on the futon and close the third side. Easy! Well, you’ll think so if you’ve ever tried the alternatives.
