So You Want to Add an Oscar to Your Aquarium

If you have become interested in adding an Oscar to your your aquarium, you are not alone.  This popular fish is very hardy and can tolerate water conditions other fish could not.  The oscar fish will also breed when the conditions are right, and both parents guard the eggs until they hatch.  Although they can be bought when they are quite small, Oscars thrive on a variety of foods, and can grow to be over twelve inches long.  They eventually need a much larger tank.  They have a tendency to eat smaller fish and might not be a good fit for a community tank.
