I’ve finally saved enough holiday time and money to book two weeks in Mid March at a surf resort at Kavieng in Papua New Guinea. I’ve been wanting to visit this area for years and really looking forward to the trip. I think the main highlights of the trip will be the (hopefully) clean consistent surf, the definite lack of crowds, the warm tropical water and the completely different Micronesian culture. The only thing I’m yet to organise is some kind of travel cover as although the resort will be safe Port Moresby has a terrible reputation for lawlessness and surfing over reefs there is always a (however small chance) of smashing yourself up. I’ve been looking at a number of online travel insurance websites and I think I have found the site I’m going to run with but I’m still a bit nervous buying insurance online. If anyone out there has any recommendations just leave a comment on companies I should be checking out.
