It was all the more foolish given the excessive measures she had taken not to arouse suspicion, even drawing pictures of Rome to demonstrate her simple imaginings.  After leaving the prefect’s office, she had hurried to her quarters and sketched a number of other drawings she hoped would promote the prefect’s trust in her.    As she completed her sector map and slipped it into its leather case, she thought about the drawing of her and Vectis, and wondered why she had drawn it the way she did.  When Chris Rempel left the prefect’s office, she had intended to sketch them walking by a river, not huddled together, shutting out the world.
